Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Policy Resolution Wins Adopted by BC Chamber of Commerce at 2023 AGM and Convention

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kamloops, BC – June 19, 2023 – The Kamloops and District Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce its recent policy resolution wins at the BC Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Convention.

The adopted policy resolutions include that were existing Kamloops & District policies which have now been renewed:

In addition to the “sunsetting” policies that were renewed, the Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce worked alongside the Barriere and Area Chamber of Commerce and the Clearwater & District Chamber of Commerce to support the calls for Barriere Mayor Stamer, seeking Mandatory Dashboard Cameras for Commercial Trucks in British Columbia.

These successful policy resolutions, put forth by our vibrant business community, will now be incorporated into the advocacy efforts of the BC Chamber. The key areas of focus put forward by the membership included: housing availability, taxation and highway safety.

The BC Chamber of Commerce AGM and Convention, held from May 31 – June 2 in Whistler, brought together chamber delegates from across British Columbia. The event provided a unique platform to discuss pressing issues affecting businesses in our province and establish a collaborative approach to address these challenges.

Business Advocacy Committee Co-Chair and Chamber Interim Treasurer Colin O’Leary represented the Kamloops & District Chamber at the conference alongside Executive Director Acacia Pangilinan and Policy Advisor Brant Hasanen.

President Tim Shoults notes, “The adoption of these policy resolutions highlights the dedication, commitment and work that are synonymous with the Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce membership and Board of Directors. We will continue to build upon this momentum and work closely with the BC Chamber to ensure our collective voice is heard and our region’s interests are strongly represented. We extend our gratitude to all members and partners who have contributed to the success of these policy resolutions. Your active participation is vital in shaping the future of our business community.”
