Why we rebranded:
Inclusivity – one of the Chamber’s core values is to accept and support all businesses.
When Executive Director Acacia Pangilinan started reaching out to Chamber members to discuss how the Chamber could provide better value and connection for all members, we soon realized that our members in Sun Peaks and outside of Kamloops city limits didn’t feel they were reflected in the organization because of our name – Kamloops Chamber of Commerce.
As part of the 2022 Operational Plan, our team started exploring name changes that would be inclusive of all of the areas and businesses that we represent. Based on feedback and direction from our members, in March 2022, we officially changed our name to Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce.
We felt the new name deserved a fresh look—something modern and reflective of our organization’s energy and enthusiasm. As part of our inclusive approach, incorporating blue is crucial to our new look as it signifies the confluence of the rivers and our commitment to continuous work for a meaningful and strong relationship with the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc.
This doesn’t mean we didn’t like our old brand; it served us well for a long time. In the 126 years the Chamber has existed, our logo and colour scheme have always represented connectivity. Our brand has provided the important visual presence we have always relied on, both for our advocacy work and community recognition. The respect for the legacy of our brand is why we just gave it a facelift—we are still recognizable, but the style is more modern and engaging. Also, have you noticed that the logo looks like it’s moving? This represents the progress we are all experiencing.
The Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce hopes that our membership and all of the businesses we represent are as proud of our fresh, new look as we are!
